Network Marketing and the “Blues”

prospecting finding clients and customers meetings 150x150 Network Marketing and the “Blues”How many times have you read the same success stories about network marketing? You jumped in with both feet, and put ALL you had into it – only to watch the bills pile up for adwords and leads, and not enough recruits to even gain you a commission?

To market successfully, you need to do some research first. Learn and understand some basic things about people. It may feel like sales, but network marketing isn’t really about sales, it’s about marketing relationships. But most network marketing companies don’t bother to teach you this basic training. So you, and many of their other potential distributors, are left hanging.

First, put that behind you. Yesterday ended last night. You need to understand yourself and the way you think, before you can spot a prospect’s way of thinking and find the buttons that will excite him to invest in your joint venture.

Your prospect’s way of thinking may be totally different from yours. You have to understand the basic types of personalities, so you can speak to your prospect in a “language” he understands and appreciates. The way to figure out your prospect’s personality type is to ask the right questions and to listen. The very things that turn you on about a venture may be turning him off!

Let’s discuss the “blues”…

The “blues” are direct and open with you. But these people may talk over you, and tell you information you don’t need; they don’t like being mired down in details, and they like to have fun. They also have trouble focusing on one single task at a time, and they may seem a little “ADHD” to you. More “blues” join network marketing than any other type of personality.

If you are one of the “blues”, you need to shut your trap and listen to your prospect. You have to listen and you have to learn to become focused on a task. When you sponsor a “blue”, on the other hand, you must teach him to listen and focus, so that he can succeed in network marketing. If you have a “blue” prospect, by all means let him talk to you. Then bring up the trip you won from your company, and the enjoyment you have with your team. He won’t listen to details, so don’t bore him with them. Follow up with him on a regular basis, but make your connections short and sweet.

Next are the “yellows”. They are soft-spoken, sensitive and nice to talk to. They don’t like aggressive, pushy people. If you have a “yellow” prospect, don’t overwhelm him with money-talk. Instead, explain how this business would free him up to spend more time with his family, and how your products help people with their wealth and health. If you’re talking all about money, you’ll lose them.

Adjust your delivery for each individual, and stress what your prospect needs to focus on. Network marketing is only as successful as you make it for each of your prospects.
